Do I need a bookkeeper?

Maintaining your books whilst running your business can become a very time consuming task. A good bookkeeper can manage your accounting systems and produce for you vital decision making information.

We believe that there are two scenario’s in which you will benefit from using us for your bookkeeping and/or payroll:

1.You are a business owner and currently do the books yourself. This becomes more and more of a burden as your business grows. Many business people choose to do this work themselves because they think it will save them money, but more often than not it is a false economy.

Delegating your bookkeeping and/or payroll to Fineline Bookkeeping can have a huge impact on the efficiency of your business.

By partnering with us you can free up more time to concentrate on what you do best, running your business and generate more revenue!

2.Your accountant or an employee is currently undertaking your books and/or running your payroll. Our overheads will be much lower than those of your accountant or of employing a full time member of staff. so we are very confident that it will be more cost-effective to let us do your bookkeeping/payroll. And don’t worry; we can liaise directly with your accountant ensuring a seamless transition and smooth ongoing relationship.

Should I outsource my accounts or hire an in-house bookkeeper?

Hiring a bookkeeper gives you the added responsibility of being an employer, you need to produce payslips every month and need to find cover when the employee is away or sick. By outsourcing your bookkeeping to us, you rely on our expertise, reducing the chances of errors occurring.

Should I invest in accountancy software?

Investing in accountancy software such as Sage, QuickBooks or Kash flow can be useful if you have had the right training. However bookkeeping /accounting software can be expensive but when partnering with Fineline Bookkeeping this will be a burden off of your shoulders as we have the required software.

My books are in such a mess, I don't know where to start. Can you help me?

Fineline Bookkeeping are happy to help you, even if you just have a bag full of receipts, we can get you back on track and impart a system to stop you getting in the same mess again.

How much do you charge?

Our initial consultation is free. Thereafter our aim is to provide you with an unrivaled yet cost-effective service

Our fee will depend on the amount of work involved. You will never be charged by the hour (we hate the idea of any of our clients not knowing in advance what they are paying for our service) and we won’t ever charge based on your level of turnover or profit.

We offer a transparent way of being able to quote you a fee based on the level of work, from experience we are able to look at the volume of transactions showing on your bank statement, number of invoices received and raised and quote you a fixed monthly fee based on this information.

Do you offer accountancy services?

The quick answer is no. We do however work with local firm of accountants that we can recommend, who can deal with the areas we do not cover such as yearly accounts preparation, tax returns and more complex tax advice.

Can I still keep my existing accountant?

Yes. We want you to continue you to use your existing accountant, especially if you have already built up a relationship with them. Your accountant is better placed to deal with the statutory requirements and advise on more complex tax matters. We work alongside your existing accountant to keep your books and records in order which helps make their life easier.

How does your service work?

Firstly, we’ll meet to discuss your requirements. Following the consultation we proceed to deliver the most cost effective and efficient way to manage the process for you. You can assemble all your paperwork which we can collect on a regular weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. Alternatively you can send us your documents by post, fax, or email. Either way we will collate all your data in our offices, update your records and provide you with easy to understand financial reports.

Should I be nervous about outsourcing my bookkeeping?

Initially this decision can seem a little daunting. However you will discover very quickly that allowing Fineline Bookkeeping to look after this important function of your business will result in peace of mind and many other advantages including cost and efficiency improvements.

You can be assured all your data is securely stored and subject to the Data Protection Act.

Do you work at my premises?

In a nutshell, ‘No’. Our approach is geared to making our service simple and easily accessible for all, we appreciate that work space can be tight at times and having to babysit a bookkeeper can be challenging, it’s why we offer a service whereby we collect the paperwork at a suitable time for you and undertake the processing at our own offices, meaning minimum disruption to you.
